Meet Olivia

Artist & Muralist

 

Olivia Sawai is a self-taught artist based in Long Beach, California. Her passion for creating began as an act of self-care and expression. Sawai’s work is multifaceted — combining funky and abstract color blocking shapes, in addition to mindfulness and self-love through her typography. Sawai intends to use her work to spread awareness of the importance of mental health while cultivating a supportive community.

 How It All Started

I began working with acrylic paint as a hobby that quickly progressed into my first art show and residency in Venice Beach.

2019 - Experimentation

I explored illustrating digitally and held my first solo show at Burke Mercantile in Long Beach. This led to work with Slowdown Studio and Girl Museum Day.

2020 - Personalization
2020 - Personalization

I added a more personal touch by signing my name as simply Sawai (Suh-why). Clients this year included Starbucks and Prism Boutique.

2021 & 2022 - Expansion

I launched my website and first collection of Sawai Merchandise all with the intention of spreading art that inspires self-care, mental wellbeing, and healing.
